So I came to a realization after I posted up the last comic, something that has been on my mind for the last few weeks/months/years that was just proven correct. I don't think I could ever go back to the Gamers Anonyverse (so to speak). There's just too much going on in my head about it, too many ifs buts and stipulations involved. After all, if I feel as if I did it right the first time, how can I compete with that? I'm working it up too much in my own head and I can't work under those conditions.

So I've decided to try something new. This is an idea that I've been wanting to do the past few years (I've even made a few lj entries about it) and it is one of the two comics besides GA that I've always wanted to try to complete.

And I'm not looking at it and thinking, I could do better. I mean, I know I can and will improve, but I'm not immediately distraught over this comic. I don't look at it and think that I could, had, and should do better.

And that makes Aaron happy.

So, without further ado, the first in a hopefully long line of comics aptly named On the Fritz (tentatively (maybe)).

I can't be the only one like this, to constantly gain and loose my motivation like I do. As soon as I put up that past comic I begun to get seriously unhappy with the results. I can't help but thinking to myself that I can do better, yet that seems to be a constant with me <strike>nowadays</strike>. The only difference is this time it took me 6 days to figure that out rather then 6 months.

I'm getting so frustrated with myself and my inability to produce work that I can be happy with that isn't almost 7 years old, yet I don't know how to right myself. Maybe I need to distance myself from the Gamers Anonymous formula right now and try something else.

After all, if I feel like I did it right the first time, anything else would be a lame copy of that. So how can I compete?

You would think time would change something. This is like a 3 year writers block, if I was actually blocked. No, this is worse, getting a ton and ton of ideas and not being happy with a single one. Perhaps I just need to write, to produce and the satisfaction comes later.

I just don't want another 6 years to go by and feel as if I've accomplished nothing.

I'm getting tired of letting myself down.

So... I bought a tablet yesterday in the hopes it will give me an outlet to draw without the waste of paper, ink, and scanning.

I spent around 3 hours yesterday experimenting with it to various results. I don't like how shaky the line seems, but Kristen told me I should try it out in flash as that automatically straightens the line for you, which I will have to try sooner rather then later.

Basically I tried drawing a panel of a comic. I would have drawn more, but one was all I could get to before Alanna got home and I got distracted with... stuff (we moved in together last weekend). The time was mostly a jumble but I got about half a panel done in around an hour. I found most of it being trial and error as I tried to get each line facing just the right way, but the experimentation alone was tons of fun.

I am right now unsure whether or not it could replace a good ole pencil and paper, but if I can get it to work while giving off the look that I want we might be onto something here.

I Am A: True Neutral Human Ranger (3rd Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-12

Dexterity-13

Constitution-12

Intelligence-10

Wisdom-11

Charisma-11

Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Find out What Kind of Dungeons and Dragons Character Would You Be?, courtesy of Easydamus (e-mail)

The Shawshank Redemption: A great movie or THE greatest movie?

On the other hand, what if the movie had come out in 1983? How crappy would that ending be?

If you haven't seen this movie, don't watch this video. Beat yourself with a rubber hose, rent the movie, watch the movie, THEN watch this video.

<lj-embed id="14" />
